Father Ben Beltran, a parish priest of a poor dumpsite community, will talk about how this is possible in the Drucker Society of Los Angeles’ May Speakers Series.

Father Beltran will talk about how he has used the Balanced Scorecard principles as he helped one poor community trade online. The Balanced Scorecard is a performance management system that helps organizations improve not just their financial positions, but their own skills and relationship with the community as well.

Father Ben Beltran is from Smokey Mountain in Manila, Philippines, the third largest untreated garbage dump in the world. He has spearheaded several livelihood projects that has empowered a poor community. His main project, the E-Veritas Trading Network, facilitates trading among the poor in his diocese using the internet. Residents are able to sell their products to and buy goods at much lower prices from other producers in partner dioceses in far-off areas.
